COLLEGE PARK, Md. – The University of Maryland football team partnered with Catholic Charities to pack “breakfasts-to-go” as part of the “Cup of Joe” program on Tuesday at Capital One Field at Byrd Stadium.
The team packed over 2,300 breakfasts that will be distributed to individuals staying in shelters maintained by Catholic Charities. The program ensures a well-balanced breakfast for each recipient prior to the start of his or her day.
"It is a great opportunity to give back to the community," said junior defensive lineman Darius Kilgo. "It gave us chance to look back and appreciate the things that we have in life. It is a great opportunity to give back and help other people.
"As a team, we were all able to come together to achieve one goal, which is what we want to do on and off the field. I think it provided us a great opportunity to appreciate what we have every day and being able to give back to other people makes it even better."
