INDIANAPOLIS – Maryland will play host to the 2014 NCAA Division I First and Second Rounds, announced Tuesday by the NCAA.
Comcast Center is one of 16 sites to host the First and Second Rounds. Others include Ames, Iowa; Baton Rouge, La.; Chapel Hill, N.C.; College Station, Texas; Durham, N.C.; Iowa City, Iowa; Knoxville, Tenn.; Lexington, Ky.; Los Angeles, Calif.; Seattle, Wash.; Storrs, Conn.; Toledo, Ohio; University Park, Penn.; Waco, Texas; and West Lafayette, Ind.
First and Second Round games will be played Saturday, March 22 and Monday, March 24 or Sunday, March 23 and Tuesday, March 25. Game times and dates will be announced at a later date.
The 2014 NCAA Regionals will be held in Lincoln, Neb. (Pinnacle Bank Arena), Louisville, Ky. (KFC Yum! Center), Notre Dame, Ind. (Joyce Center), and Stanford, Calif. (Maples Pavilion) Saturday, March 29-Tuesday, April 1.
The 2014 Final Four will be Sunday, April 6 and the NCAA title game will be Tuesday, April 8 at the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tenn.
Maryland opens the 2013-14 season as a top five team nationally in numerous preseason polls. . This year, the Terps return four of five starters, two-time ACC Player of the Year Alyssa Thomas, and bring on four talented newcomers in Lexie Brown, A’Lexus Harrison, Brionna Jones and Shatori Walker-Kimbrough.
