COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Each week during the 2013-14 season a Maryland student-athlete, who has shown excellence on and off the playing field, will be selected as the Solomon Eye Associates Terp of the Week. This week's Solomon Eye Associates Terp of the Week is senior Emily Fraik from the volleyball team.
Fraik embodies the highest qualities of a student-athlete, excelling both in the classroom and on the court. A high school valedictorian, Fraik has shined as a chemical engineering major while stepping into a leadership role on the volleyball court.

Sophomore Emily Fraik helped guide the Maryland volleyball team to an important victory in its ACC opener against Georgia Tech, before setting career marks against Clemson last weekend.
The outside hitter displayed her offensive prowess against Georgia Tech, notching 16 kills with a phenomenal .375 hitting percentage. She then had a career day two days later against Clemson, collecting career-highs in kills (18) and digs (16).
Fraik has progressively become one of the Terps' go-to players this season, stepping up when most needed key situations. Maryland (9-5) returns to action this weekend as it hosts Virginia on Friday at 7:00 p.m., before taking on Virginia Tech at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday.
“[Performing well] is great, but it’s not about the career high,” Fraik said. “It’s about getting better as a team. I hope that next weekend I can step up for the people that are out injured so I can make up for their loss.”
