COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Each week during the 2013-14 season a Maryland student-athlete, who has shown excellence on and off the playing field, will be selected as the Solomon Eye Associates Terp of the Week. This week's Solomon Eye Associates Terp of the Week is senior Ali McEvoy, from the field hockey team.
McEvoy's leadership with the Terrapins' defense has helped the Terps to a 8-0 start. She scored against No. 18 Wake Forest and against Michigan last weekend to help Maryland secure two hard-fought wins.

Senior Ali McEvoy of Maryland anchored the Terps’ defense through two gritty wins over No. 18 Wake Forest and Michigan last weekend.
Against the Demon Deacons, McEvoy and the Terrapins’ defensive unit did not allow a penalty corner until the final 20 seconds of the game. Against the Wolverines, the Terrapins were down a player for 10 minutes in the second half, yet McEvoy and the Terps were able to hold off Michigan’s seven shots to keep them scoreless.
She scored two goals on the weekend – both off penalty corner plays to help the Terrapins seal both wins. Her two scores led the Terps offensively.
"I just think we are really gelling well as a group," McEvoy said. "We just get along really well and are just reading each other well. We are playing our game and so far, it's been working out for us, even in tough games like last weekend."
