COLLEGE PARK, Md. – The University of Maryland Student Welfare and Career Development will host the “Backpack to Briefcase - How to Network” Workshop on Wednesday, Sept. 18, 2013, at 6 p.m., at the University Career Center & The President’s Promise.
The workshop, located in the South Wing - 3100 Hornbake Library, will share tips and suggestions for student-athletes interested in learning how to network with prospective employers. In addition, they will include invaluable lessons, focusing on their presentation and the ability to effectively create a 60-second elevator pitch for meetings and interviews with potential employers.
“We’re looking forward to working with our student-athletes in this very important educational initiative,” Ziz Abdur-Ra’oof, director of student welfare & career development said. “We are confident our workshop will continue in the development of our student-athletes and provide them with the necessary tools and strategies to prepare for a successful life after college.”
This event will help student-athletes prepare for the upcoming University “Fall Career & Internship Fair” on Sept. 24-26 from 12:00 p.m. -5:00 p.m. at the Comcast Center as well as the “Networking Event at the Fall Career & Internship Fair” at Heritage Hall on September 25 from 5:30 p.m.-7:30 p.m.
