Senior forward Hayley Brock earned a pair of awards following a sensational week for the No. 15 University of Maryland women’s soccer team.
The Acton, Mass., native was named to the TopDrawerSoccer.com Team of the Week along with earning co-ACC Player of the Week honors following an 11-point week on five goals and one assist in three matches.
Brock began the week with a hat trick in a 4-2 come-from-behind victory over Villanova on Aug. 26. With Maryland trailing 2-1 late in the game, Brock scored all three of her goals in a four-minute span to lead Maryland to the win. In a 3-0 win over George Mason, Brock provided the game-winning assist and a goal, and capped the five-goal week with a strike in a 2-0 win against Navy.
Brock leads the ACC with six goals this season, and has scored in each of Maryland’s last six games dating back to the 2012 postseason.
She was also the recipient of the first Solomon’s Eye Associate Terp of the Week award, which was announced during the Maryland-Florida International football game on Aug. 30, following her performances vs. Villanova and George Mason.
Brock and the Terps hit the road for the first time in 2013 when it travels to California for a pair of matches vs. nationally-ranked opponents. The Terrapins will play at No. 23 Santa Clara on Friday, Sept. 6 at 10 p.m. Eastern time. Maryland will then finish its west coast trip with a match at No. 2 Stanford on Sunday, Sept. 8 at 4 p.m. Eastern time, which will be broadcast on the Pac-12 Network.
