The University of Maryland women's soccer team is ranked No. 17 in the Soccer America preseason poll, which was released on Wednesday.
The Terps were also ranked No. 17 in the preseason NSCAA poll and No. 18 in TopDrawerSoccer.com’s preseason rankings.
The ACC is well represented in the Soccer America poll with seven teams in the Top 25: North Carolina (No. 1), Notre Dame (5), Florida State (6), Virginia (7), Duke (8), Wake Forest (10) and Maryland (17).
In addition to the six ranked ACC teams the Terps will play this season, Maryland will also travel to play at No. 4 Stanford and No. 9 Santa Clara.
Maryland opens its 2013 regular season on Friday, Aug. 23 when they host The Citadel at 7 p.m. at Ludwig Field.
Maryland returns seven starters, including 2012’s leading scorer Hayley Brock, and 21 letterwinners from last season's squad that earned the program's fourth-straight bid to the NCAA tournament and was the runner-up in the ACC tournament.
Coach Jonathan Morgan begins his second season in charge of the Terrapins and is looking to lead his team to five-straight NCAA tournament bids for the first time since 1995-99.
