With three incoming freshman among the top 10, the University of Maryland men’s lacrosse team’s 2014 freshman class was named the No. 1 freshman class in the nation in Inside Lacrosse’s 2013 Recruiting Issue.

Overall, Maryland has nine incoming freshman listed among Inside Lacrosse’s Power 100 Freshmen Rankings. Six of the nine newcomers for the 2014 season were also Under Armour All-Americans.

Headlining the list for the Terps are the four top freshman attackmen in the nation, according to Inside Lacrosse. Matt Rambo (LaSalle College HS) is the top attack recruit and is the No. 2 overall recruit, while Tim Rotanz (Shoreham-Wading Rive HS) is the No. 2 attack recruit and No. 3 overall. Connor Cannizzaro (Cazenovia HS) and Colin Heacock (Boys’ Latin) are the third and fourth attack recruits and are Nos. 8 and 11, respectively.

Mac Pons (Boys’ Latin) is the No. 16 overall incoming freshman, but is ranked No. 2 among freshman close defenders.

Lucas Gradinger (Torrey Pines HS) comes in as the 35th overall recruit and the 11th freshman attackman, while Dan Morris (Dallas Jesuit HS) is 40th overall and the fourth freshman goalie on the list.

Defenders Tim Muller (Chaminade HS) and Chad Rafferty (Malvern Prep) round out Maryland’s selections at Nos. 56 and 87, respectively.
