NASSAU – Maryland completed a perfect 3-0 record on their foreign tour with an 88-77 win over the Grand Bahamas All-Stars Friday afternoon at Sir Kendal Isaacs Gymnasium.

The Terps had five players score in double figures, including sophomore forward Jake Layman who had a team-high 25 points and connected on 5-of-8 three-point attempts.  Junior guard Nick Faust added 20 points while sophomore backcourt mate Seth Allen chipped in with 15 points.

Maryland head coach Mark Turgeon was proud of how hard the team competed with three games in four days.

“We got better as the week went on,” Turgeon said. “It was a great overall trip.  On the court, we defeated three teams away from home, faced a number of different situations, handled adversity well and had the opportunity to play every healthy player on our roster.”

Turgeon’s team spent six days in the Bahamas with the overall goal of improving on the basketball court and continuing to build strong team chemistry for the upcoming season.

“We have been able to spend quality time and have a lot of fun together as a basketball family,” Turgeon said.

Notes: Today’s starting lineup featured Allen, Faust, Layman, Dez Wells and Evan Smotrycz … Wells missed the second game on the tour with a sore knee but responded with 10 points on Friday … Sophomore Charles Mitchell came off the bench and added 12 points … Layman had a pair of 25-point games during the foreign tour … The Terps will leave the Bahamas on Saturday afternoon … Maryland will have a few weeks off before resuming workouts on September 3.
