Former Terps Headline World Cup Semifinals

A total of 13 former Maryland women’s lacrosse players have led their respective nations into the semifinals of the 2013 FIL World Cup, slated for Friday in Oshawa, Canada.

In the first semifinal, top-seeded United States – led by former Terrapin Tewaaraton Award winners Caitlyn McFadden and Katie Schwarzmann - will square off with former All-American Laura Merrifield and England at 11:30 a.m. for a shot at the gold medal game.

No. 3 seed Australia - including two key point-getters Sarah Mollison and Sonia LaMonica - faces Maryland’s best draw control threat in history Dana Dobbie and No. 2 Canada at 2 p.m. in the other semifinal.

The gold medal contest is slated for Saturday at 3 p.m. A bronze medal match featuring the losing squads from both semifinals will begin at 12:30 p.m.
