To be considered, student-athletes must earn GPAs of 3.00 or higher in the previous academic semester and maintain a 3.00 cumulative average during their academic careers.
It is the second ACC Academic honor for Schmeiser, a sophomore studio art major and for Bustillos, a sophomore criminology and criminal justice major. McCann is a junior biochemistry major.
Schmeiser pitched 160.2 innings in 40 appearances for the Terrapins as she helped the squad in a late season hot streak to take third in the ACC. Bustillos started behind the plate in 56 of 57 games, hit .302 with 43 RBI, which was good for top 10 in the league. McCann served as the Terps’ leadoff hitter throughout the season and started in right field in all but one game. She picked up 38 walks on the year, which was third in the league and was top 10 in the ACC in stolen bases with 16.
The Terps (31-26, 13-8 ACC) finished third in the ACC and set a school record for most ACC wins in a season with 13. As a team, the Terrapins set school records for runs scored (348) and RBI (304).
