GREENSBORO, N.C. - Maryland senior lefthander Jimmy Reed has been named the Atlantic Coast Conference Pitcher of the Week for the second consecutive week, the league announced Monday.
Reed, the ACC Pitcher of the Week for April 29 following a complete-game shutout at Duke, earned the award Monday after striking out a career-high 11 at 18th-ranked Clemson on Saturday.
The senior limited the Tigers to four hits over eight innings in the Terps' 7-2 victory. Reed's 11 strikeouts are the most by a Terrapin pitcher in a single game this season.
In his last four outings, Reed has an ERA of 1.41 and has gone at least eight innings in three of those starts.
Reed and Charlie White have combined for three weekly ACC honors this season. White won ACC Player of the Week honors on Feb. 25.
Maryland concludes its three-game series with Clemson tonight at 7 p.m. The game will be broadcast on ESPNU.
