INDIANAPOLIS - The NCAA national office on Wednesday released its public recognition as part of the NCAA Division I Academic Performance Program (APR) and Maryland women's golf was recognized with a multiyear (4-year) APR score of a perfect 1000.

Teams that were recognized Wednesday demonstrated a commitment to academic progress and retention of student-athletes by achieving the top APRs within their respective sports. Specifically, these teams posted multiyear APRs in the top 10 percent of all squads in each sport.

"Our student-athletes continue to excel in the classroom and represent our great University with distinction" said Kevin Anderson, Director of Intercollegiate Athletics. "I am proud of our women's golf team and I am certain they will serve as an inspiration for our other programs."

"This is a fantastic accomplishment for our women's golf program," said Chris Uchacz, associate athletics director of academic support and career development. "Achieving a multiyear score of 1000 represents a sustained and dedicated commitment in the classroom."

The APR provides a real-time look at a team's academic success each semester by tracking the academic progress of each student-athlete on scholarship. The APR accounts for eligibility, retention and graduation and provides a measure of each team's academic performance.

The discontinued Maryland men's cross country team also achieved a four-year APR score of 1000.
