RALEIGH, N.C. - The Maryland softball team dropped the series finale at NC State Saturday, 7-1, after splitting the doubleheader Saturday.

Maryland (20-20, 5-4 ACC) rallied with the bases loaded in the top of the seventh, but it wasn't enough to even the score.

NC State (19-17-1, 5-6) started the scoring with a solo home run by Renada Davis to lead off the bottom of the first. The Terps evened the score in the top of the third. Sara Acosta brought her in with a base hit to right.

The Wolfpack took the lead back, 2-1, when Scout Albertson hit a solo home run to left in the bottom half of the fourth inning. Caitlin Dent brought in a run with a sac fly in the bottom of the fifth. NC State added two more runs before the end of the inning to make it 5-1.

The Wolfpack added two more off an error and a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the sixth.

Lexi Carroll and Shannon Bustillos hit back to back singles to lead off the top of the seventh. Liana Newton drew a walk to load the bases with two outs, but the Terrapins couldn't capitalize.
