COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Maryland Athletics took to the courts Sunday to raise money for the American Cancer Society's Relay For Life at the Student-Athlete and Staff Volleyball Tournament.

Organized by Maryland's Student-Athlete Advisory Council (SAAC), the tournament raised over $500 for the American Cancer Society. For nearly 100 years, ACS has worked relentlessly to save lives and create a world with less cancer and more birthdays. Together with millions of our supporters worldwide, ACS is helping people stay well, helping people get well, finding cures, and fighting back against cancer.

"This year we came up with a volleyball tournament because we are focusing on making sure all of our sports are hanging out more and the more inclusive we could make it, the more money we'd be able to donate," Lindsey Puckett, a member of the field hockey team and the SAAC president, said.

A total of 16 teams and over 100 student-athletes and staff members competed in the tournament, held in the Comcast Pavilion.

"I think it's great in terms of chemistry among all the athletes on campus, coming together for a great cause and coming out to have fun," quarterback and SAAC member C.J. Brown said. "It's a place where everyone could come hang out and enjoy themselves."
