Maryland Players of the Week

October 28, 2008

WOMEN'S SOCCER – NATALY ARIAS (Sr., M, Alexandria, Va.)

Propelled the Terps to an important road win, the first of the season for the women's soccer team, with her fifth-career game-winning goal in the 2-1 victory at NC State on Sunday ... the goal was the 13th of her career, tying her for 20th on the school's all-time list ... she also moves into a tie for 13th on the all-time game-winning goals list ... the women's soccer team is still alive for an ACC Tournament berth, needing a victory over Clemson on Thursday and some help.

FOOTBALL – DA'REL SCOTT (Soph., RB, Conshohocken, Pa.)

Scott rushed 23 times for 163 yards (7.1 ypc), including 103 in the second half, and one touchdown in leading an impressive rushing attack (203 yards on 36 carries) during Maryland's 27-24 rain-soaked win over NC State. The sophomore's 39-yard run in the second quarter helped set up Obi Egekeze's first field goal. The leading rusher in the ACC also ran three times for 43 yards, including the final 24 on Maryland's final touchdown drive. The 163 rushing yards were the second most in his Scott's career and most in an ACC game by a Terp since Josh Allen racked up 257 vs. Virginia in 2003.
