Rupp On Mehl: "He had a good year last year and really came on. He took what he did last season, carried it into the summer, and then had a tremendous fall. We're expecting big, big things out of him with the bat. He may end up in our leadoff position. He's a leadoff hitter that has speed and that can also hit the ball out of the park for you. He can also bunt and do all the little things that a leadoff hitter can do. Defensively, he is outstanding. With him in the outfield next to Justin Maxwell, it's hard to find a better defensive right side of the outfield in the country."

As a Junior (2004): Led the team with 14 stolen bases and tied for seventh in the conference with .28 stolen bases per game ... had an 11-game hit streak from April 20 through May 8, and closed the year with hits in 16 of his final 19 games ... raised his batting average from .233 to .272 over that span ... one of two Terps with a perfect fielding percentage, totaling 79 putouts and eight assists in 50 games ... had outfield assists in all three of the team's ACC Tournament games ... recorded a career-high three hits at Lipscomb (2/29) ... doubled and scored a pair of runs at Florida State (3/21) ... hit his first home run as a Terrapin and had three RBI against UMES (4/6) ... hit his second home run of the season to bring in two runs against Towson (4/20) ... scored two runs and had one RBI, while going 2-for-6 with a triple against Wake Forest in the ACC Tournament play-in game (5/25).

At Hutchinson: In 2003, he hit .362 with four home runs and a .989 fielding percentage ... was in the nation's top 10 for stolen bases by a junior college player ... batted .385 as a freshman with six home runs, and was an honorable mention selection to the Jayhawk allconference team ... set a school record for doubles in a season with 22 ... selected to play in the 2002 Jayhawk conference all-star game ... went on to hit .301 while playing for the Youngstown Express this past summer in the Great Lakes Summer Collegiate League while adding 10 stolen bases and registering a .987 fielding percentage ... was selected in the 45th round of the Major League Baseball draft by the Cleveland Indians in the 2003 draft.
