As a Sophomore (2011): Saw action in six games along the offensive line … played as a reserve tackle and special teams performer … helped the offense rank third in the ACC in rushing (169.3 yards per game) and fourth in fewest sacks allowed (1.4 pg) … played in the first four games, helping the team run for 198 yards against Towson (10/1), including 102 by Davin Meggett, while holding the Tigers without a sack … also played vs. Boston College (10/29) and NC State (11/26).
As a Redshirt Freshman (2010): Played in 11 games as a reserve right tackle for an offense which ranked 29th in the FBS in scoring (32.2 ppg) and tied for fifth nationally in fewest turnovers (15) … also played on special teams … did not see action vs. Navy (9/6) and Clemson (10/16) … helped the Terps post 221 rushing yards vs. Morgan State (9/11), his first-career game … aided the offense in racking up 446 yards of total offense, including season-high 261 on the ground against Wake Forest (10/30), while not surrendering a sack … helped the offense roll up season highs in total yards (478) and rushing yards (279), and score a bowl-record 51 points vs. East Carolina in the Military Bowl (12/29).
As a Freshman (2009): Served a redshirt season … made the travel squad for the final four road games.
At Wheeler High School: A two-sport star who showed great improvement on the football field from his junior to season seasons … a three-year starter on the offensive line … also played defensive line during his career … a 2008 honorable mention all-county choice by the Marietta Daily Journal despite the Wildcats suffering through an 0-10 campaign … selected for the county Senior Bowl … also a pitcher for the baseball team … threw in the mid 80s … also considered Boston College, Purdue, Wake Forest and Syracuse … coached by Tom Flugum.
