COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The University of Maryland will participate in a Samaritan's Feet Initiative at Sunday's home game vs. Virginia as part of a national goal to raise funds for 75,000 pairs of shoes.

In partnership with the NCAA and the National Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC), and in celebration of 75 years of March Madness, school's across the nation are teaming up to collect funds.

Samaritan's Feet was established in 2003 by Emmanuel (Manny) Ohonme, who was inspired to create the organization after receiving his first pair of shoes from a "Good Samaritan." Samaritan's Feet's goal is to give 10 million pairs of shoes to 10 million people in 10 years. Since 2003, Samaritan's Feet has helped four million people in 60 countries.

Maryland student-athletes from a variety of teams will be stationed inside Gate A of Comcast Center accepting $10 donations from the public. The first 200 fans to make a donation will receive a Samaritan's Feet wristband provided by the NCAA. Maryland's goal is to raise $2,200.
