Wrestlers Head To Penn State For Third Open Tournament Of Season

* The Maryland wrestling team travels to State College, Pa. this Sunday to compete at the Penn State Open.

* The tournament is the third of the season for the Terps who also competed at the West Virginia Open and East Stroudsburg Open.

* Senior Brandon York (Gaithersburg, Md.) will try and better his runner-up performance in last year's Penn State Open. This year though, York enters Sunday's tournament in the 141 pound weight class. For the Gaithersburg native, it is his third tournament at 141. He has compiled an 8-2 record in two tournaments thus far.

* Redshirt junior Jake Stork (Mohrsville, Pa.) enters this weekend's tournament on a hot streak. He is a perfect 10-0, capturing titles at both the East Stroudsburg and West Virginia Opens. Stork finished fifth at Penn State last season, capturing five match victories.

Stork Captures Second Title In East Stroudsburg

* The story of the tournament was Jake Stork. The redshirt junior won five matches to capture the title at 184. The title at East Stroudsburg was Stork's second of the team after winning the crown at the season opening tournament in West Virginia.

* Freshman Adam James (Silver Spring, Md.) won four more matches in East Stroudsburg to give him eight for the season. The Maryland high school state champion a year ago ranks third on the team in falls with two.

Pinning The Competition

* Jake Stork, the team leader in pins last season with 12, once again ranks first on the squad with four falls in two tournaments. Nationally, he is ranked 18th by wrestlingreport.com and 20th by Intermat at 184.
