COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The University of Maryland women's lacrosse team will likely be well represented this summer in World Cup action as 14 former and current Terrapin players will vie to be playing for their respective countries just outside of London, England, in the town of High Wycombe.

For the United States team, 10 of the 24 players selected to the "Elite Squad" have played for the Terps. From these 24 players on the Elite Squad, 16 will be chosen to actually tour with and compete for the US Team in World Cup action. Current senior Quinn Carney is joined by 2000 graduates Christie Jenkins and Kristin Sommar as the youngest former Terrapins on the squad. Also on the team are former Maryland players Erin Brown (1991 graduate, current Women's Division Director of U.S. Lacrosse), Maureen Scott Dupack (1994 graduate, current head coach at American University), Kelly Amonte-Hiller (1996 graduate and all-time Terp leading scorer, current head coach at Northwestern), Randall Goldsborough-Flynn (1996 graduate, current head coach at Franklin & Marshall), Theresa Ingram (1994 graduate, current coach at Brown), Michelle Uhlfelder (1991 graduate, current Stanford head coach) and Jessica Wilk (1990 graduate, current Virginia field hockey coach).

In addition to the 10 players Maryland has placed on the U.S. Elite Team, there are four that have already earned a spot on the Australian team. Current Terps Jen Adams and Courtney Hobbs are joined by 1997 grad Sarah Forbes and 1998 grad Sascha Newmarch.

The Women's Lacrosse World Cup will take place July 7-14, 2001, and will feature teams from 11 different countries.
