MILLERSVILLE, Pa. -- Jake Stork pinned two more wrestlers Sunday at the Shorty Hitchcock Memorial Tournament held in Millersville, Pa., to capture his second tournament title of the season and highlight Maryland's sixth-place team finish. Stork pushed his team-high total in pins to 14 on the season.
Joined by Stork in placing was Jason Gribschaw, fourth place finish in the 133-pound division, Stephen Lanciotti, fourth place at 144 pounds, John Antonelli, sixth place at 157 pounds, and Eric Fehnel who finished in third place in the heavyweight division.
Jason Ellis (165), Pat Cissne (174), and Mark Reid (197) all finished the tournament with one win. Ellis defeated Gary Bruzzese of Ithaca in the first round of wrestle backs 5-4, Cissne beat Rutgers' Dan Cook 7-4, and Reid defeated Appalachian State's Josh Carrol 8-2.
This marks the first tournament that the Terps have had more than two wrestlers place in the top six. For Gribschaw, Lanciotti, Antonelli, and Fehnel it is the first time that they have placed this season.
The Terps will be in action this weekend at the Virginia Duals held in Hampton, Va. Maryland is gearing up for its first home meet, against Navy, which will be held Jan. 15 at Comcast Center.
