LEWISBURG, Pa. - The Maryland wrestling team (5-2, 0-1 ACC) won their fifth dual meet of the season Sunday afternoon against EIWA opponent Bucknell (1-6) in Davis Gymnasium. The win marks the third straight year the Terps have defeated the Bison. Maryland took eight of ten matches to earn the victory. Senior Brandon York (Gaithersburg, Md.) surpassed All-American Steve Peperak (1984-1987) Sunday, becoming Maryland's all-time wins leader with 130 career victories. The three-time ACC champion decisioned Brandon Green, 12-6.
Maryland won the first five matches to jump out to an early 22-0 lead. Freshman Adam James (Silver Spring, Md.) started the scoring, downing Justin Hartrum, 14-6, at 149 pounds. Freshman John Antonelli (Norristwon, Pa.) earned his third dual meet victory of the season, decisioning Rocky Miller, 9-3 at 157.
At 165, senior Josh Weidman (Hershey, Pa.) earned his sixth fall of the season, pinning Bucknell wrestler Mike Saunders in 1:28. Following a Bucknell forfeit at 174, junior Jake Stork (Mohrsville, Pa.) notched his seventh straight dual match win with a 9-5 decision over Brian Neuman, handing the Bucknell wrestler his first dual meet loss of the season.
Junior Bob Vorhies (Morris Knolls, N.J.) lost his match at 197 to Brian Falciglia, 7-3. At the heavyweight position, sophomore Jeremy Duncan (Platte City, Mo.) earned his third pin of the season against Andrew Herbert in 2:27.
With the win, Maryland surpassed last year's non-conference win total with five out of conference victories. The Terps return home for their first of four straight home matches beginning Wednesday against Rutgers at 7 p.m.
