LOCK HAVEN, Pa. - Maryland freshman wrestler Josh Asper went 4-1 at 165 pounds and finished third Saturday at the Mat Town Open on the campus of Lock Haven University.

No team scores were kept. Asper was Maryland's only placer of three competitors, as Shawn Mazzarone and Owen Duffy also participated in the event.

Asper took a pair of decisions against Drexel's Alex Rinaldi and Lock Haven's Aaron Ernest before losing a 2-1 decision to Michigan State's Rex Kendle.

However, Asper finished strongly to earn third, shutting out Liberty's Sam Rakes, 6-0, then closing the day with an 8-3 decision over Penn State's Micah Bollinger.

Mazzarone went 2-2 at 157 pounds, including a major decision.

Duffy went 0-2 at heavyweight.
