St. Louis - Senior back Jen Pratt (Greene, N.Y.) and sophomore back Molly Kauffman (West Lawn, Pa.) each scored a goal and added an assist, leading sixth-ranked Maryland (3-0) to a 4-1 victory over Michigan State (2-1) today at the ACC-Big Ten Challenge in St. Louis.
Pratt and Kauffman each scored in the first half, giving the Terps a 2-0 halftime lead. Sophomore midfielder Carla Tagliente (Cortland, N.Y.) and freshman forward Dina Rizzo (Walpole, Mass.) added goals in the second half. Freshman midfielder Caroline Walter (Reilingen, Germany) assisted on the goals by Kauffman and Rizzo, giving her a team-leading five assists for the season.
The win capped off a perfect weekend for Maryland at the inaugural ACC-Big Ten Challenge. On Saturday, the Terps defeated No. 11 Michigan 2-1 in double overtime.
Maryland's next game is Sunday, September 13, at Rutgers at 1 p.m.
