WASHINGTON, D.C. - Senior midfielder Delia Cox is among the 21 players up for the 2006 Tewaaraton Trophy, the Tewaaraton Foundation announced today. The award, which will be presented June 1, is given annually to the country's top player.
Cox leads the team with 41 goals and 19 assists for a career-high 60 points this season. Her 19 assists are also a single-season best for the Newbury, Mass., native. She earned ACC Player of the Week honors on March 27 for helping Maryland past two ranked opponents.
Cox has scored a goal or an assist all but one game over the past two seasons.
The list of 21 will be narrowed to five finalists before the award presentation on June 1.
