COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Kelly McPartland led a balanced Terrapin attack with four goals as the No. 4 Maryland women's lacrosse team trumped Virginia Tech 19-5 Saturday.
Fueled by the energy of the unveiling of their new Under Armour PRIDE uniforms, the Terps were absolutely dominant in the first half, topping Tech 11-0 in the period. Griffin led Maryland with three goals in the run. VT (9-6, 1-4 ACC) did not land on the scoreboard until the 25:50 mark in the second half.
The Terps capped the win, which cemented the third seed in the upcoming Atlantic Coast Conference championship next weekend, with six unanswered goals.
Brittany Dipper racked up five saves in limited action as all three Maryland goalies saw time in the cage. Freshman Erin Collins led the Terps on the draw with a team-high three. Megan Douty, Katie Schwarzmann, and Shanna Brady each registered two caused turnovers.
"We were ready to play today," head coach Cathy Reese said. "We just wanted to step on the field and execute what we've been working on and to get better from where we were on Wednesday night. We had our Maryland Pride Day and the girls looked great and played great."
The Terps travel to the ACC championship next weekend in Durham.
