Maryland Coach Sasho Cirovski
It was a great college soccer game. Akron is a great team; they came to play. The game rightly ended in a tie - it was very evenly played. It's unfortunate both teams cannot advance, I'm just very happy that we are the ones moving on.
I'm proud of this program and this team. What we have accomplished now with a fourth-straight trip to the College Cup is remarkable.
Comparing PK experience this season
It can be an advantage and a disadvantage. Obviously, we have seen them, and between 60-80 percent of the time players will go the same way, so we definitely were prepared for PKs. We were confident going into it - we had practiced it in training before every round. We were also confident because we won on PKs last year, and there was a sense of confidence. That's a psychological moment to make sure the players go in with confidence and I think we accepted that challenge.
On the fans
I would love to thank the fans. The student fans who were here at 10:30 a.m. this morning and the soccer community that came out in great numbers today -- they are as much of a reason why we are here today as anything. I think they lifted us. When you lose a kid like Kenney, the kids had to come together and I think the crowd lifted them. When they are screaming for A.J. Delagarza -- that kept his level high. They are knowledgeable fans and I appreciate that.

On the PKs
I was just trying to get a read off them and see where they were set. I got lucky and guessed right a couple of times. The first one planted pretty close to the ball and was trying to get around it and so I could kind of tell he was going to go that way but I was not sure, but luckily it hit the post.'
On his defense
Throughout the game they did not have that many dangerous chances. Our defense jumped in front of balls and got in the way of everything and it made it easy on me again in regulation. I was just trying to help them out [in PKs].
Akron Coach Ken Lolla
I thought it was a wonderful college soccer game. I thought the atmosphere was tremendous. I thought both teams played fairly well - looking to play, it was a clean game, competitive. For college soccer I think it was a wonderful event today.
On going into PKs
We felt good, for sure, coming in, just from having participated in it a couple of times this season. And yet they had the benefit of also seeing it, which sometimes makes it a little bit tougher.
Playing on the road
It is [tougher]. It builds character, for sure, because there are a lot of things that go with it. It's not just playing on another team's field with a majority of their fans here, but it is also the travel that is associated with it as well. I am proud of our guys because they have been very resilient all year. As Maryland knows it's tough being No. 1 in the country and we were No. 1 for four weeks and handled that very well, we dealt with going on the road very well. It just shows our character, resiliency and focus.
On this year's Maryland team compared to the one in 2003
I think they may have been more talented the last time we were here, but this might have been a better team. I don't think they have any weaknesses and are solid all over the field.
