COLLEGE PARK, Md. - For the first time this season, head coach Kerry McCoy will get a chance to see his entire team compete on the same day in the same place as the University of Maryland wrestling team heads to State College Pa. for Sunday's Nittany Lion Open on the campus of Penn State University.
"I am really looking forward to this weekend. It's going to be fun to have so many guys competing in the same place," McCoy said. "I have not been able to see some of the younger guys compete, so I am excited about that, as well. We've had a great week of training and the guys are hungry to get back to competition."
Overall, 22 wrestlers will officially represent the Terrapins on the mat, including three ranked competitors. Maryland's ranked contingent includes No. 5 Hudson Taylor (197), No. 9 Steven Bell (133) and No. 15 Alex Krom (141).
Also wrestling for Maryland will be: Matt Bogusz, Owen Duffy, Steve Fehnel, Patrick Gilmore, Mookie Golden, Ryan Gray, Kyle John, Patrick Klenkel, James Knox, Dex Lederer, Brian Letters, Chris Lloyd, Matt MacLean, Bradley Nielson, Corey Peltier, Lou Ruland, Will Sharbaugh, Tommy Sitar and Pat Strizki.
The Terps are currently receiving votes in the USA Today/InterMat top-25 poll. Maryland went 1-2 at the Journeymen/Brute Northeast Duals last weekend, knocking off Drexel and losing to No. 1 Iowa and No. 5 Missouri.
Maryland is 2-4-1 in dual meets this season, with all four losses coming to top-15 teams, including three in the top 10.
