#14 Maryland Welcomes George Washington Friday

COLLEGE PARK, Md. -- The 14th-ranked Maryland women's basketball team (8-2) will welcome crosstown opponent George Washington (3-6) to the XFINITY Center Friday night. The Terps and the Colonials will tip off at 7 p.m.

Friday’s game can be heard on the Maryland Sports Radio Network on ESPN980 and 1300 AM in Baltimore.

The Terrapins beat Mount St. Mary's, 97-47, Wednesday night at XFINITY Center. Ieshia Small led five Terps in double figures with 21 points. Kaila Charles, Stephanie Jones and Kristen Confroy each scored 16 points and Blair Watson added 13.

Charles was named to the Big Ten Player of the Week Honor Roll Monday after averaging 18.0 points and 10.0 rebounds in the Terps' two wins.

Five Terrapins are scoring in double figures - Kaila Charles (18.8), Ieshia Small (12.8), Stephanie Jones (12.1), Kristen Confroy (11.7), Blair Watson (11.3).

Maryland is 5-1 vs. George Washington and has won the last three meetings, dating back to 2006. Most recently, the Terps won 75-65 at George Washington on Nov. 22, 2014.

Maryland is ranked No. 15 in the Associated Press poll and tied with Duke (6-2) for No. 14 in the USA Today Coaches poll.

After Friday's contest, the Terrapins will host Loyola (2-6) Monday at 6 p.m. at the XFINITY Center. For tickets, click here or call 1-800-IM-A-TERP.

Fans will be encouraged to donate women’s professional attire to Dress for Success – an organization supporting local women in need of business attire. After the game, season ticket holders will have a chance to get their picture taken on the court and have it emailed and mailed to them as a keepsake. Fans will also have the opportunity to take a photo with Testudo in his Santa costume on the concourse from 5:00-5:45 p.m.
