COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Former Terrapin and current WNBA rookie Shatori Walker-Kimbrough has signed to play with the Turkish basketball club, Orman, in Ankara this offseason.
Walker-Kimbrough is currently with the Washington Mystics. After the WNBA season, she will travel to Turkey for the offseason. The Orman team went 38-8 last season and is in the Turkish league (TKBL).
The No. 6 overall pick in the WNBA Draft has started in four games and is averaging 9.4 minutes per game with the Mystics.
Head coach Brenda Frese has coached 13 total WNBA draft picks, including 10 in the top 10. Seventeen Terrapins over the years have been drafted, including Walker-Kimbrough at No. 6 and Brionna Jones at No. 8 this year, Brene Moseley last season by the Indiana Fever and Laurin Mincy in 2015 by the New York Liberty.
Alyssa Thomas was the fourth overall pick in 2014 by the Liberty and was traded to the Connecticut Sun. Tianna Hawkins went sixth overall in 2013, and Lynetta Kizer and Anjale Barrett were drafted in 2012. Marissa Coleman and Kristi Toliver went second and third overall in 2009, Crystal Langhorne and Laura Harper were No. 6 and No. 10 overall in 2008 and Shay Doron was a first round pick in 2007.
