2017 Outdoor: Academic All-Big Ten...competed at five events in the high jump…finished 3rd (1.88m) at the Maryland Invitational (3/18)…placed 2nd clearing 1.91m during the Virginia Quad (4/8)…finished in 7th place (1.95m) at the Hopkins Invitational (4/14)…took 4th place (1.95m) at the Kehoe Twilight Meet (5/5)…finished in 20th clearing 1.97m for a career best at the Big Ten Championships (5/12-14).

2017 Indoor: Competed at two events in the high jump…finished in 2nd place clearing 1.88m at the Terrapin Invitational (1/21)…also took 2nd place jumping 1.94m at the Wesley A. Brown Men’s Invitational (1/28).

Before Maryland: High jumper under coaches Anne and Lee Zumbach at Brunswick High School…also ran cross country and played lacrosse…won indoor state championship for high jump in 2014 while setting a school record of 6’2…finished third in the state high jump championships in 2014 outdoor…named Second Team All-MVAL indoor in 2013 and 2014 and first team in outdoor 2014…MVAL high jump champion for outdoor in 2014...First Team All-County Indoor in 2014…participated in Maryland Club Running and won the NIRCA high jump national championship…named a NIRCA All-American…lists personal high jump record of 6’5...earned Dean’s List recognition in the fall and spring of 2015.

Personal: Son of John and Jennifer Tarcza…brother of Amy and Phillip…brother, Phillip played basketball for Clearwater Christian College…majoring in marketing and information systems…lists sports hero as Dwight Stones…enjoys yoga, basketball, bowling and cooking…was also recruited by Salisbury, Howard and Frostburg…came to Maryland because it has a great business school, the career opportunities in DC and his dad is an alumni.
