Chris Uchacz joined the Maryland staff in January of 2011 as an Associate Director of Athletics and the Director of the Academic Services & Career Development Unit (ASCDU). Uchacz directs the day-to-day operations of the ASCDU while developing and implementing strategies to enhance graduation and retention rates of more than 500 student-athletes representing 20 NCAA Division I-A sports programs..
Uchacz joined Maryland after spending seven years at TCU as the Director of Academic Services. He was responsible for the direction of the Athletic Academic Services Office (AASO), which had over 450 student-athletes and 20 NCAA Division I-A sports programs.
Prior to joining TCU, Uchacz worked at the University of Texas-Pan American as an Assistant Director of Athletics and directed the Academic Support & Student Services unit. He oversaw the implementation of the Freshman/Transfer Orientation Program, NCAA CHAMPS/Life Skills seminars and the study skills workshops and tutorial services. In addition, he also served as the Student-Athlete Advisory Council liaison.
Uchacz originally began his career in collegiate athletics with the University of Illinois. He served on the Academic Advising Staff, worked in the Athletics Department's Wellness Program and counseled student-athletes.
